NYSSCPA to Host NextGen Conference for Young Accounting Pros on May 3

Young accounting professionals and those who are looking to develop their leadership and planning skills while pursuing their CPA license are encouraged to attend the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants’ (NYSSCPA) NextGen Conference. It will be on Friday, May 3, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Midtown Loft and Terrace, 267 Fifth Ave. at 29th St. in Manhattan.

This annual career development conference will spotlight top strategies for advancement, networking and leadership growth that will equip attendees with the critical skills necessary for consistent success and upward mobility in the accounting and financial professions.

Editor-in-Chief of Accounting Today and Tax Pro Today, Daniel Hood, will moderate the “Creating Opportunities for Growth,” panel, which will feature four CPAs sharing their career journey and steps taken to accelerate the growth of their position(s) in the accounting industry:

·  Michael Durant, CPA, MST, Staff Accountant, Prager Metis CPAs, LLC

·  Tony Nitti, CPA, MST, Partner, Federal Tax, RubinBrown LLP

·  Magda V. Reyes, CPA, MBA, Director of Finance, Satin Fine Food Inc.

·  Lindsay Stevenson, PA CGMA, Vice President of Finance, First Financial Bank USA; Founder and CEO, Origin Evolution LLC.

Aside from the professionals mentioned above, Melisa F. Galasso, CPA, ATD, founder, Galasso Learning Solutions LLC, will help attendees identify their unique talents and life goals and apply them to create a promising path of career success.

“This one-day event will provide the audience with access to the cutting-edge knowledge and motivation from industry experts and help attendees create their own personalized action plan to have the career they want, complete with support needed to reach their goals,” said Garrett Wagner, CPA, CITP, founder and CEO, C3 Evolution Group, who also serves as a member of the Society’s NextGen Committee.

Wagner will present a closing keynote, sharing steps on how to create your best future as an accounting professional in the rapidly changing landscape of the industry, followed by closing remarks from Michael Durant, NextGen’s incoming committee chair.
